September Wrap-Up

September Warp-Up:

I went back to uni this month to start the third and final year of my degree, so it’s been a little chaotic with all my required reading, most of which I avoided.

The first book that I finished was Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, and it will come as no surprise that this was preparation for the fifth book in the series, Empire of Storms which was the next book that I finished. I’d be very surprised if you haven’t heard of the Throne of Glass series but in case you haven’t, it chronicles the adventures of a seventeen year old assassin as she completes in a competition to become the King’s champion. I really can not praise these books enough, or really anything by Sarah J. Mass as she is one of my favourite authors. Each book in the series is even better than the last and all deserve a full five star rating.

In between those two I did happen to squeeze in another kindle book which was a bit of a drag it I’m honest. Having already reviewed Never Always Sometimes I’m going to post the review here in the next couple of days since I don’t really want to have to think about it again. Disappointingly I only gave it two stars out of five as I really didn’t enjoy this YA contemporary mainly because of the writing style.

Then came the countdown to the sequel to the fabulously five star rated Six of Crows, in which six young outcasts attempt a heist. Unfortunately my copy was elsewhere so I decided to listen to the audiobook instead. This was one of my favourite books of last year and probably this year too. The audiobook turned out to be quite good once you got used to the multiple narrators as I haven’t experienced that in audiobook form before. Unfortunately, I didn’t quite finish it in time for Crooked Kingdom, but I’ve really been off my game lately.

And I’m afraid that it is for my wrap up, which seems even more depressing down on paper, but onwards and upwards we go. I promise next time this will be a little lengthier and a little more decorative. What did you think about any of these books? What did you read in September?

  1. Love Sarah J Maas .. can’t wait for the last book in the series, especially after the ending of Empire of Storms! I’ll have to try the Six of Crows audiobook .. I wanted to reread it before starting Crooked Kingdom but haven’t been able to find the time. And I like the idea of multiple narrators!
