June Haul

Hello, welcome to June, and it’s over already! But that’s okay because it’s my birthday next month, and by next month I mean in a couple of days time! Until then these are the books that I bought in June.

Mr Rochester by Sarah Shoemaker

29773957Remember when I said that Jane Eyre is my absolute favourite book in the world? Remember when i said how much I love alternative POV’s? Well my prayers may have been answered with this book. The story of Mr Rochester, the main love interest in Jane Eyre, but wait theres more. This books is first person. I’ll just let that sink in for a moment. First person. Mr Rochester. Don’t get me wrong, I have my reservations, since this obviously isn’t written by Charlotte Bronte, but unless I can raise her from the grave and force her to write this book, Mr Rochester is as close as I’m going to get.

We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

34369803This had black sprayed pages. Black sprayed pages, matte black cover, and the word villain in the title meant that I had to get it. This, I think is a dark YA contemporary, where we are introduced to a group of kids at an elite arts school. Oliver, one of theses kids, who specialises is Shakespeare (love it!), notes that his friends all tend to play the same characters both on stage and off stage. One day, one of the teachers switched up the onstage roles, and act with bleeds into their off-stage lives and ends in tragedy. So it sounds, part contemporary, part thriller, part murder-mysetry? Either way I love the concept of such blended genres and look forward to reading!

Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by V.E. Schwab

34397653I found this a week early in Waterstones, so of course I had to buy it that second.  I absolutely adored the first book, This Savage Song, wherein we are introduced to a world in which violent act breed physical monsters. What do i want from the conclusion? I want a love story! I don’t know if I’ll get one necessarily, because I don’t think that’s the point of this duology, but I have faith that Victoria will be able to knock it out of the park either way! So, were back with Kate and August, after the events of the previous book, but with war breaking out in Verity and monsters spreading to other territories life, it seems, is not going back to normal.

Harley Quinn, Vol.1: Die Laughing by by Amanda Conner (Writer, Artist), Jimmy Palmiotti (Writer)

31223941.jpgSo, last August I watched Suicide Squad, and no matter what everyone else says, I absolutely loved it. There began my obsession with Harley Quinn, so I treated myself to my first graphic novel with her in it. Even though I know a little bit about her history, this will be the fist book, bar the Suicide Squad novelisation, that I’ll have read. I ended up writing a LOT of fanfic (i’m not usually a fanfic sorta girl) for NaNo last year so I wonder how it’ll compare. But enough about me, all I know about this books is that there’s Harley Quinn and there’s zombies, which, honestly sounds like a ball!

And that is that! All of the books that I bought this month. I also bought Harley Quinn Rebirth, vol.1, which is the first comic in the novel. Oops! But at least it’s pretty!

Next month is my birthday, so maybe I’ll have bigger haul, I’ll also be unboxing July’s Fairyloot which I am super excited about, and I’m hoping for more Harley.

What your favourite book you bought this month? What should I rush to read on my list? Do you have any graphic novel recommendations?

Thanks for reading!
