#AmWriting: Camp NaNoWriMo, July 2018- Update

It is a little bit over halfway through the month, and I’m here with a little progress report. In case you don’t know, I do daily updates over on my Tumblr too, so if you cam’t get enough of me can find me there. But, where were we?

My Goals

July, as always got off to a rocky start. My birthday is the 1st of July, and while I had a lovely day, it was not a day for writing. Originally I set my goal at 30 hours, but I am the worst at tracking my progress in anything but words, so I had to change that a couple of days later. So I had a new goal of 30,000 words, which is a little less than 1,000 words a day, and is pretty realistic.

My Project

I was going to focus on editing Out of Orbit, and piece together another partially written WIP I call Of the Fearless Flight. Instead I threw that out of the window and decided to play around with something completely new. Why? I have absolutely no idea. I never write a project without a plan and hear I am flying, as Angelica Schuyler would say, my the seat of my pants. But it’s working for me, so far. In terms of genre, it’s set in the early 1900s, though it’s very vague at the moment, since I have done no research, and I described it on twitter as Peaky Blinders with supernatural abilities, and that’s what I’m going with. We have a clairvoyant, a dead body, an elementalist, and an exorcism so far, so it’s all fun and games,

What next?

I’m just going to keep witting, and take this WIP as far as I can, not sure how far that will be so I guess we’ll find out together. If I find myself at the end of my tether, then I’ll probably turn to my old, faithful, friend, fan fiction  to reach my word count. But that’s fine. I haven’t really written any all month, so I’m not worried to go back there, I planned to do that on weekends originally anyway.

What about you? Are you participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, and if so how’s it going? If not, are you writing at the moment? If you are, what are three words that summarise your current WIP? Let me know, down below!

If you enjoyed this snapshot into my July Camp, then you can always check out my other NaNoWriMo posts, and, like I said, I also do daily updates on my Tumblr, so come an say hi, over there!

Thanks for reading,
