Haul: Christmas 2018

I have a time christmas haul for you this year, because, shock horror I didn’t ask for any books. The reason for this was that I got a new kindle this year, and am re-dedicating myself to the ebook life. However, I did get two lovely books from my friends.

How to Stop Time by Mat Haig

36218250My friend has been telling me about this book for a long time, and I’m excited to finally have a copy to read. It looks like a lovely concise book, from the author of The Humans and Reasons to Stay Alive. How to Stop Time follows a man who has an unusal medical condition, in that he ages extremely slowly, and as a result has lived hundreds of years. He moves from place to place, taking different identities, but has one golden rule to help survive, and that is not to fall in love. I’m going to take a wild guess here and say that maybe, he breaks this rule? I love The Time Traveller’s Wife vibes, and its going to be at the top of my TBR!

The Christmas Party by Carole Matthews

23211258This year one of my friends and I decided to give books as Christmas eve gifts, and I was determined to read as much of it as a could on Christmas Eve, since I wasn’t working. I definitely succeed in this, and finished it Christmas morning, before everyone else was up. Be sure to keep an eye out for my December Wrap-Up for my review, but until then I’ll tell you about the plot. We follow three women, each at very different stages in their lives, one a young single mother, one an executives unhappy wife, and the other an older wife, forever taking care of her husband. It’s a fun, and funny, story with a bittersweet ending, that makes for a nice festive read that takes place during an office christmas party.

And those are the books that people bought for me this Christmas. You’ll probably see that I will be buying some books with my Christmas money, and have ordered one already, but they’ll be in my normal TBRs

What did you get for christmas? Have you read any of these books, and if so what did you think? Do you have any favourite festive reads, I would be on the look out for next year?

Thanks for reading, hope you had a lovely Christmas, and a happy new year!
